A week after the cyberattack on Insomniac Games, hackers are sharing information online, including details about the highly awaited Wolverine game.
The leak of information about Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine game happened shortly after the Rhysida ransomware group attacked the game company. This group had previously threatened to release a lot of sensitive information. Initially, they released only a few documents, but now it seems that the entire set of data is available to the public.
Leaks Expose Secrets of Insomniac’s Wolverine Game
In early December, Rhysida targeted Insomniac Games with a ransomware attack. The attackers said they had confidential documents and proved it by posting employee details and upcoming project information. Insomniac Games hasn’t spoken about it, but Sony confirmed they are investigating. Unfortunately, recent leaks indicate more challenges for Sony and the studio.
As of now, the leaked information focuses on the upcoming Wolverine game. The leaks reveal the cast for Marvel’s Wolverine, suggesting characters like Sabretooth and Deathstrike may appear, alongside lesser-known Marvel characters. Actors like Troy Baker and Debra Wilson from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order are among those leaked.
Additionally, test footage, concept art, and an alleged alpha build of the game are now public. Sony and Insomniac haven’t commented on the situation, but these new leaks might indicate pressure from the Rhysida group for financial demands.
Insomniac Games’ Project Lineup
The Wolverine game isn’t the only project affected by the attack. The initial documents released by the Rhysida group suggested that Insomniac Games might be working on a Spider-Verse game and Spider-Man 3.
Some think the Spider-Verse title could be the rumored multiplayer project, but Insomniac hasn’t given official details. Interestingly, leaked data also suggests the studio might be developing separate Venom and X-Men games.
In recent years, cybercriminals have been targeting major gaming companies. Last year, GTA 6 details were leaked online, causing significant issues for Rockstar before the official trailer reveal, which was also leaked early.
Unfortunately, it seems Insomniac Games is facing a similarly troublesome situation. The outcome for Insomniac remains uncertain, especially since the leaked dataset includes personal information of some employees along with gaming content.
It’s challenging for Insomniac Games to navigate these leaks, especially considering that the studio’s future plans may have been revealed.
