PS5 Pro and GTA 6 Combo will be Insane – Get Ready

The rumored graphics boost for the PS5 Pro could potentially make it the top choice for playing GTA 6, offering an unparalleled gaming experience.

A recent leak suggests that the upgraded PS5 Pro, rumored to be the successor to the PS5 console, might launch later this year, possibly during the holiday season. If this information turns out to be accurate and Rockstar’s GTA 6 sticks to its targeted release window of early 2025, it could establish Sony as the leading platform for experiencing one of the most highly anticipated games of this era.

However, this scenario relies on several uncertain factors falling into place. GTA 5’s massive success in 2013 underscores the potential significance of this opportunity for Sony. Unlike many modern game releases, Rockstar plans to stagger the launch of GTA 6, with an initial release on consoles followed by an “upgraded version” for PC at a later date. This strategy adds to the anticipation surrounding the game’s eventual launch and its impact on the gaming community.

Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has previously dismissed the idea of a mid-cycle refresh for either the Xbox Series X or Series S. He stated last summer in an interview with Bloomberg that he doesn’t feel the need to release another Xbox console this generation based on current feedback. He mentioned that they are content with the hardware they currently have.

The Rumored Specs of PS5 Pro

This decision could potentially give Sony a significant advantage if they proceed with the release of the PS5 Pro in time for GTA 6’s launch. According to a recent video by YouTuber Moore’s Law is Dead, the rumored PS5 Pro could boast an impressive 67 teraflops of compute power, possibly achieved through machine learning techniques.

This would translate to around 33.5 Tflops of “Floating Point” performance, compared to the base PS5’s 10.28 Tflops. If these specifications turn out to be accurate, it could represent a massive leap in technical capability. It could potentially allowing the PS5 Pro to compete with top-tier gaming PCs in terms of graphical power.

With Sony’s estimated 2:1 market advantage over Xbox, the PS5 was already positioned as the primary platform for players anticipating Rockstar’s highly awaited open-world crime game, GTA 6. However, the prospect of playing GTA 6 on the upgraded PS5 Pro could further sway players towards Sony’s console over Xbox.

The PS5 Pro will need a compelling sales pitch to validate its existence, especially considering that the more affordable Xbox Series S continues to outsell the Xbox Series X. Offering an enhanced gaming experience with GTA 6 could be that defining factor for the PS5 Pro.
