Now You can use ChatGPT directly in chats

Make your chats and conversations more engaging by incorporating ChatGPT into them.

OpenAI wants more people to use GPTs, the AI models behind third-party apps. If you’re a paying user of ChatGPT, the AI chatbot from OpenAI, you can now bring in GPTs to your conversation. You just need to type “@” and choose a GPT from the list. The chosen GPT will understand everything that has been said in the conversation.

Different GPTs for different purposes and situations can be brought in, and they will join the conversation with knowledge of what was discussed before. OpenAI explained this in a tweet, saying it allows users to add relevant GPTs with the full context of the conversation.

OpenAI is making GPTs more accessible following the recent launch of the GPT Store, a marketplace available through the ChatGPT dashboard. Creating GPTs doesn’t require coding skills, and they can be as simple or complex as a developer wants. Some examples already available include a trail recommender from AllTrails, a code tutor from Khan Academy, and a content designer from Canva.

OpenAI plans to let developers monetize their GPTs by selling access, but first, they need to increase traffic. According to Similarweb, a web analytics company, custom GPTs make up only about 2.7% of ChatGPT’s global web traffic, and this traffic has been decreasing since November.

Moderation poses a challenge as well. During the first week of the GPT Store’s launch, “romantic” chatbot apps inundated it, with some being sexually suggestive and violating OpenAI’s terms. Developers also created political campaigning bots, including one impersonating U.S. presidential candidate Dean Phillips.

OpenAI, which uses a mix of human and automated review, removed some of the problematic apps. However, if the number of GPTs increases as OpenAI hopes, this moderation challenge may intensify.
