To use it, simply update your ChatGPT app on iOS or Android, tap the headphones icon at the bottom of the screen. And start asking the chatbot questions – just avoid recent events like OpenAI’s CEO changes.
The free version of the GPT-3.5 model is based on data only up to January 2022. So, when you inquire about events after that date, such as ‘Why was Sam Altman fired from OpenAI?‘, it responds that there are “no public reports or indications” because it lacks information beyond January 2022. Quite convenient, isn’t it?
Nevertheless, if you’re in the market for a voice assistant that’s more conversational and knowledgeable compared to Apple’s Siri, the ChatGPT voice function can be a fun new tool. Just keep in mind that occasional service disruptions, like the one that occurred around 2 pm PT / 10 pm GMT yesterday, may happen.
You have the option to pick from five different voices. And your written conversations (not the audio clips) are saved, similar to text-based chats. The system can also automatically identify languages. But you can also set this in the Settings menu.
ChatGPT with Siri
The introduction of voice capabilities to ChatGPT’s free version is potentially significant. Especially now that you can use ChatGPT with Siri. This is especially noteworthy for iPhone 15 Pro users, who can assign ChatGPT to the new Action button by going to Settings > Action Button > Shortcut.
