New Steam Deck OLED officially Announced by Valve

The Steam Deck has been popular for PC gaming for about two years. But some of its hardware is a bit outdated. The 7-inch touchscreen, for instance, is not as good as what other companies like Lenovo and Asus offer.

The new version of the Steam Deck with OLED is called the official name. There are two options: one with 512GB for $549 and a new one with 1TB for $649. Both versions have a better 50 watt-hour battery, and how long it lasts (between three and twelve hours) depends on the games you’re playing.

Notable Features

In the first big update since the Steam Deck came out, you can now get one with a shiny 7.4-inch OLED screen. The new model also has a larger battery and more storage, making it better. Some smaller changes have been made, such as a new 6nm APU setup, which might help improve the battery.

Wi-Fi 6E has also been added. Despite these changes, the size of the device remains unchanged. The screen is a tad larger at 7.4 inches, but the resolution remains at 1280×800. The entire device is 30 grams lighter compared to the original model.

If you want something special, Valve is selling a Limited Edition Steam Deck OLED in a small quantity. This 1TB version has a cool semi-transparent black casing with red accents on the thumbsticks, screws, and air intake and exhaust grilles.

It looks really cool, like a more grown-up version of a 90s Game Boy Color. This limited edition costs $649, the same as the regular 1TB model, and you can order it starting November 16th along with the other OLED models.

For a short time, the original 64GB and 512GB versions of the Steam Deck (now called the “Steam Deck LCD”) both have a $50 discount.
