The model can process up to 1 million tokens consistently, which is the longest context window of any large-scale foundation model to date. This means that Gemini 1.5 can understand and generate responses based on a much larger context than its predecessors, leading to more accurate and relevant results.

The efficiency of this new version is further enhanced by its new Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture. This innovative design allows the model to be more efficient to train and serve, making it a more practical solution for a wide range of tasks.

The first model released for early testing is Gemini 1.5 Pro. This mid-size multimodal model is optimized for scaling across a wide range of tasks and performs at a similar level to 1.0 Ultra. It comes with a standard 128,000 token context window. But a limited group of developers and enterprise customers can try Gemini 1.5 Pro with a context window of up to 1 million tokens via AI Studio and Vertex AI in private preview.
