Motorola New Smartphone can wrap around your wrist

Motorola’s new phone idea is not new, but flexible screens seem like a good idea now. Motorola has shown rollable and foldable phones before. Now, they made one that bends.

The company Lenovo owns Motorola. They made a phone screen that can wrap around your wrist. Motorola showed this phone on Tuesday. They call it an “adaptive display.” It shows what phones can do with flexible screens. The screen can bend into different shapes as you like..

When you lay it flat, the 6.9-inch screen works like a regular phone with all of Android’s features. You can also adjust it to different standing positions. For example, when it stands upright, it becomes a more compact Android phone with a 4.6-inch display.

Motorola thinks people will use it for video calls in this position. Alternatively, you can wrap it around your wrist to mimic the experience of the Razr Plus’s cover screen. Motorola is not the first to make a phone that can bend or flex.

Lenovo had the idea of a flexible wrist-worn screen as far back as 2016. The concept of bendable screens has been around since the 1960s when the first flexible solar cell arrays were created.

But, now it seems like a flexible screen makes more sense than it did a few years ago. Major phone companies like Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo, and Motorola have shown that they can successfully make polished foldable phones. Even the classic flip phone is making a comeback.

However, don’t expect a phone with a flexible display like the one Motorola just showed to be available in stores soon. This is more of an experiment. Companies usually take their time with new designs. Foldable phones still have challenges like durability and cost, so it might be a while before they become available, if they do at all.
