Apple is promoting the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max as gaming devices, but getting game makers to create a special version for iOS might be difficult.

A New Era in Mobile Gaming

At Apple’s recent event, they showcased how the new Pro iPhone can play big console games like Resident Evil, Death Stranding, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage directly, not as watered-down versions or through the internet, but as full games thanks to the A17 Pro chip.

An Apple executive said in an interview that they believe the iPhone 15 Pro series will be a great game console. Apple’s Senior Director of GPU Software, Jeremy Sandmel, mentioned techniques like MetalFX can improve game performance and graphics. Plus, with the iPhone 15 Pro’s USB Type-C port, gamers can connect to 4K screens, but only if developers use MetalFX fully.

Apple’s Approach to Mac and iPad Integration

When asked about bringing these games to other Apple devices like Mac and iPad, the executive said it’s possible but requires cooperation with game studios. Some games like Capcom’s Resident Evil are already on iPhone and Mac with the same graphics as PC and console.

Apple doesn’t aim to compete with big gaming companies like Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft but instead wants to work with developers to bring more big games to their devices.

As for concerns about the iPhone 15 Pro heating up during graphic-heavy gaming, Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing, Kaiann Drance, explained that Apple has an advantage because games are optimized for one hardware setup, unlike Android where they need to work on many devices.
