In October, The Wall Street Journal reported that GTA would come to Netflix. We guessed this might be how the mobile versions of the GTA Trilogy release.

GTA Trilogy Hits Mobile for Netflix Subscribers

Netflix, not just for videos now, offers games in its mobile app and plans to make its own console games. They hired industry veterans, like Joseph Staten, known for Halo. He’s the creative director for a new AAA game.

Surprisingly, the App Store and Play Store list Netflix as the developer, not Rockstar Games or Grove Street Games. After waiting for more than 2 years, it’s finally coming to mobile but is only for Netflix subscribers. They can play Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, all remastered on iOS and Android.

You can play the games directly on the Netflix app or download them separately from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Netflix subscribers can now pre-register for the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy to be ready for download on December 14th/15th, depending on your time zone, as announced by Netflix. It’s unclear if the mobile version will be available without a Netflix subscription in the future. There’s a possibility it might become purchasable or included in GTA+ after some months.

Console and Mobile Expansion

Rockstar Games had previously revealed in September that the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy would be available on GTA+ for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. In October, mobile versions of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars were added to GTA+ for its members.

For iOS users, the device must run iOS 16.0 or later, with an A12 Bionic Chip or later. The iPhone XS and iPad Pro are the oldest supported devices. The game sizes on iOS are 1.7 GB for GTA III, 2.8 GB for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and 2.9 GB for GTA: San Andreas.

Regarding Android, the required OS version varies by device, and there is currently no shared list of supported devices.
