GTA 6 Release Date Expected to be Delayed by One Year

Reports suggest that the release of GTA 6 may be delayed until 2026 due to development issues causing a setback.

Initially, GTA 6 was planned for release in 2025, as indicated at the end of its first trailer. However, Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have not provided a specific launch window yet, leaving the timing uncertain.

In February, foreign media reported that Rockstar instructed its developers to return to the office by April. Another report explained why the studio might be insistent on employees working on-site.

Insiders have revealed that some developers feel surprised by the return-to-office mandate, while others are concerned that Rockstar might revert to unhealthy crunch practices.

Reports indicate that quality and security concerns are the primary drivers behind the decision for developers to return to the office. The development progress on GTA 6 is reportedly “falling behind,”. Causing concern among Rockstar leads that they may need to delay the highly anticipated video game.

As of March 22, the next GTA game is aiming for a 2025 launch window, specifically targeting an early-year release date. Sources from Kotaku believe that a fall 2025 release is more realistic and feasible.

A delay to 2026 wouldn’t be unexpected. However, it’s considered more of a “fallback plan” or an “emergency” option if necessary. The game is planned to be released on PS5 and Xbox Series platforms.
