Google recently introduced custom AI-generated wallpapers for the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Now, Google is extending AI capabilities to its Chrome browser.

A new “Help Me Write” AI feature was recently announced for Chrome. Moreover, Chrome users will soon be able to make personalized AI-generated themes for their browser. This discovery comes from Leopeva64, a user on X (formerly Twitter), who explored the code of the latest unreleased Canary version of the browser.

Similar to the Pixel 8, this feature on Chrome begins by asking the user to pick a theme. However, the themes available are more extensive compared to those offered for Google’s flagship phones. The X post reveals various categories under the subjects tab, including Buildings, Food, Everyday Objects, Nature, Space, US Cities and Parks, and more.

The Details

Each category offers further options. For instance, Buildings can be narrowed down to Airport, Cafe, Castle, Lighthouse, Office, and more. Everyday Objects presents numerous household items that can serve as a theme. Under Space, users can choose themes related to Constellations, Satellites, Moon, Sun, Stars, Solar system, Spaceships, and so on.

I’m most excited about the category featuring US cities. A quick look reveals options like Arches National Park, Chicago, the Grand Canyon, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, and the Everglades, among others.

Once a user selects a city theme, they can further customize it with options for color and mood. For example, they could choose a steampunk sad Chicago with blue hues or an expressionist romantic airport with red tones.

Although the feature isn’t live yet, we don’t know exactly what the wallpapers will look like. However, based on my experience creating wallpapers with the Pixel 8 Pro, it seems that Chrome’s version will be even better.

Considering the usual timeline from features appearing in Chrome’s code to their full deployment for users, it’s likely that we’ll see the complete rollout of this feature in the coming months.
