Insider Gaming sources say that Respawn Entertainment is making a new Star Wars Mandalorian game. It’s still in the early stages of development. The game will let players be a Mandalorian bounty hunter during the time when the Galactic Empire rules the galaxy. Your job is to capture bounties, dead or alive, for cash rewards.
According to VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb, the game is led by Respawn’s creative director, Mohammad Alavi. He left the studio to work on this new project. Grubb didn’t mention it was a Star Wars game before, but now he has. The game will focus on “mobility” and “style” as main ideas.
The Gameplay
The game features high mobility, thanks to the Mandalorian’s jetpack. It lets players dash horizontally, jump vertically, slide with boosts (similar to sliding in Apex Legends), and more. Sources say the game is very fast-paced and rewards players who play this way. For instance, health mainly regenerates based on successive kills.
As a Mandalorian bounty hunter, players have a range of weapons and gadgets, such as a wrist rocket, grapple hook, and a visor for tagging enemies and bounties. The game won’t be open-world; instead, it will have linear levels set on various planets in the Star Wars universe.
The release date is uncertain, but it’s expected to be at least a year or two away. Whether the game will include multiplayer is currently unclear.
