Epic Games Store Coming to iOS and Android This Year

Epic Games will soon launch its online store on mobile devices later this year. Steve Allison, who is the general manager at Epic Games, shared this news during the company’s GDC presentation.

They didn’t share many details beyond this news, but they did show concept art to give an idea of how the mobile version of the EG Store might appear.

During the presentation, Steve Allison mentioned that the company had been working hard to overcome challenges with mobile gatekeepers, subtly referring to Apple and Google.

Over the past year, Epic Games has been involved in legal battles with major tech companies concerning the distribution of its games and apps on different devices and in specific areas.

At GDC, Epic Games announced its plan to launch its own mobile-based EG Store before the year ends. This move aims to bypass the restrictions set by other companies. Along with the store, Epic Games will introduce new self-publishing tools designed specifically for mobile games.

Given that the EG Store boasts over 270 million player accounts, it’s not surprising that Epic aims to expand its market share by tapping into the highly accessible mobile platform.
