Many people at the studio, including GTFO director Ulf Andersson, were involved in the popular Payday franchise. A heist shooter with multiple sequels. Unfortunately, the latest game in the franchise, Payday 3, became one of the biggest disappointments of 2023. Due to a problematic launch with server issues and other problems.

10 Chambers’ Heist Comeback

After leaving the Payday franchise and founding 10 Chambers, the team took a different direction by announcing GTFO. An atmospheric horror shooter. In GTFO, a team of four scavengers explores an underground complex under the guidance of a mysterious entity known as The Warden.

The game, first revealed in 2017 and fully launched in 2021, has a history with The Game Awards. It’s no surprise that 10 Chambers chose this platform to unveil its latest project.

Ulf Andersson joined Geoff Keighley at The Game Awards 2023 to announce that 10 Chambers plans to return to its roots with the next title, Den of Wolves. According to a new trailer, Den of Wolves is a cooperative heist game set in the near future. Blending futuristic and mind-bending elements.

Players will work together to execute heists involving rival mega-corporations engaged in industrial espionage and unauthorized tasks.

In the gameplay of Den of Wolves, players will engage in heists in Midway City. Frequently switching between stealth and full-on first-person shooting. They’ll use high-tech weapons and gadgets while working for different corporations to sabotage rival businesses and extract valuable data directly from corporate leaders’ minds.

A Fresh Take on Heists by 10 Chambers

Den of Wolves, confirmed by indie games studio 10 Chambers and its co-founder Simon Viklund, isn’t an open-world game. However, the team has worked to make Midway City feel like a believable futuristic city by developing its history and narrative elements. Highlighting the dominance of corporations in the city.

Having worked on heist games in the past which channeled classic bank robbery themes, we wanted to take Den of Wolves in an exciting new direction that allows us to elevate what a heist can be. You can only rob so many banks. Den of Wolves’ sci-fi themes and gameplay elements gave us the freedom to offer more variety in heists — incorporating corporate espionage, sabotage, and assassinations.

Currently, Den of Wolves doesn’t have a confirmed release date or window. However, players who are interested can wishlist the game on Steam to stay updated on its progress until its eventual release. Given that GTFO first launched in Early Access for a few years before its full release, it’s highly probable that Den of Wolves will follow a similar development pathway.
