Assassin’s Creed Future Setting Revealed: Fans are Excited

Assassin’s Creed Mirage teases a leap into the future!

Could parts of the Assassin’s Creed games move forward in time? It’s possible, especially with new information linked to the release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the latest game in the series.

These games always include a modern-day story about the ancestors of the assassins we play as in most of the games. With Mirage, some people found a sound clip that might suggest a move into the future for the modern-day characters.

The Leaked Information

In this clip, two people operating the Animus discuss the 21st century as ‘ancient history.’ They also mention something called ‘The Great Shift,’ hinting at an event in the 21st century. Since they talk about it in the past tense, could they be from the 22nd century or even further ahead?

The sound clip surfaced under the name ‘Neo,’ which is Ubisoft’s codename for Assassin’s Creed Hexe, suggesting it’s related to the upcoming game. But does this imply that the entire game will happen in the future, possibly as the result of our training over the years? Or could we witness two stories unfolding across different timelines?

Many fans express excitement about the idea of a game set in the future, including Reddit users who are discussing this possibility. One Redditor suggests, “A dystopian cyberpunk style Assassin’s Creed would be so cool. Something like Blade Runner meets parkour.”

However, some fans are saddened by the absence of Desmond’s story, the character we once followed in the modern day setting. Another fan speculates, “It seems like Infinity won’t be just a launcher, but rather ‘infinity’ is the new modern-day setting in which all the new Assassins Creed games take place,” referring to the upcoming launcher hub for the franchise. We’ll have to wait and see what happens after the next game, codenamed Red, takes us to Japan.
